This is Anjuna!

Located in North Goa, Anjuna enjoys an iconic status for its psychedelic rave parties and the colourful and offbeat flea market. Throbbing with a multitude of activities, this palm-fringed beach draws tourists and backpackers from all over the world.
Popularly known as the freak capital of the world, Anjuna claimed its popularity through trance parties and Hippies who tried to synthesize the spiritual traditions of India with the art and music of the West. Some time in the late 1950s to mid-1960s, the area was ‘discovered’ by a group of travellers, including the legendary ‘Eight Finger Eddie’ who started a small international psychedelic scene. Over the years, Anjuna beach has earned fame (and notoriety) for its rave party scene and till today, thousands of people from distant corners of the globe descend upon it to let their hair down on psychedelic trance music amidst the scenic landscapes.
But Anjuna is not just about the hippie scene and the trance raves. If you love to frolic in the sea and crave for a dip in the tepid waters, Anjuna beach is the ideal place for you. The rocky promontory at the southern end of the Anjuna beach keeps the sea calm and ready for your plunge!

Anjuna is also well known for its famous flea market that bursts at the seams with an astounding variety of items ranging from artifacts to electronic gadgets. The market is held on Wednesdays and if you are an old hand in the bargaining game, chances are that you will walk away with a handsome deal.

In the recent years, Anjuna has added to its repertoire. Ayurvedic Massages, Yoga Schools and Organic Cuisine and restaurants offering possibly all cuisines from around the world are all part of the “Anjuna scene” today.

But Anjuna still remains one of its kind. It has a completely different vibe compared with all the other popular sea-side locations in Goa (or anywhere in the world).

It might have come a long way over the last 50 years, but it still retains its soul!!
